Psalm 86:15 ESV
As human beings we can be so impatient with the littlest things. From getting cut off on the highway, or even spilling a cup of coffee, we lose our self control over occurrences that really are not important. As a follower of Christ, I struggle with patience as well. This world is tough and filled with many trials, but
Just as we strive to have patience in this life, scripture often speaks about the patience of our Heavenly Father.
But not the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it-- the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one ho has faith in Jesus.
As we can see in this verse, God is justifiably angry at sinners. We also know that the wages of sin is ultimate death: separation from God's grace for all of eternity.BUT, God sent Christ to die in our place. God declares Christ's death to be the appropriate, designated sacrifice for our sin. Because of Christ, we have been set free from the bondage and guilt of sin! We have been delivered!
God is extremely patient. Just think about the number of times we sin each and every day. We are by nature, sinners. The beauty of that is this: While we were (and are) undeserving of salvation, God has given this gift to us! Christ came for the ungodly! I'll put it this way. I am glad that God chose salvation instead of termination.
Father, help me to be patient as you are patient with me. Amen
